I'm sorry that we haven't used this blog very much. It's been so busy! But in great ways.

Lots has happened since these were written. We probably won't have another chance to post before we get back unless we can in the airport at some point, but we will gladly talk about it all when we see you!

I'll also try to get pictures (and some video!) I took up. There are lots (over 500 so far).

We love you all SO much. God is working, so THANK YOU for your prayers.
Our taxi driver is waiting for me, so I have to go. See you soon!

Finally! A new post!

Bequia is beautiful. The mosquitos hate me, the kids love me, and it’s hot. What more could I ask for? Moms, your kids are amazing!! I wish you had the privilege to see them in action. You would be truly proud. And don’t worry; I am taking good care of them. The people are friendly and it is a joy to work with them. The beach is lovely and we swim every day. The teen ministry has been a bit more of a challenge. They were a little stand-offish at first. But you know teens; they have to check you out for a while before they trust you. But they are really beginning to open up and I expect great things in the next few days. To my wonderful hubby… I miss you terribly, I wish you were with us, but since you are not, I will just keep thinking of you and will see you soon!

The second day of VBS we had almost double the number of kids we had the first day. It was fun to see Anna and Al playing soccer with the boys in the street and Andrea and Beth making friendships bracelets with the girls. It’s crazy how close we can get to these kids in just two days.

Also, the teen ministry at night is good. Last night, the second night, we talked about modesty with the girls. Our discussion groups brought up a lot of good questions and comments. It’s hard to get past the simple chit-chat with our new friends but some of us are starting to get deeper.

Pray that the teens would open up, be challenged, and think about what we’re saying in the lessons.
Also pray for the VBSs as more kids come and we get more and more tired.

PS: Hello Mom, Dad, Sam, and Jannah! Grace and I are doing just GREAT!

Good day! I hope you all are healthy and well. Cause we are (save the mosquito bites!) I have been having just a great experience here. VBS started on Monday and I was probably the sweatiest person on the planet by the end of the day. I was very apprehensive on the first day. But by the second day I had really connected with some of the kids! They like soccer and so do I! I am having a great time connecting with the teens as well. All of us have found at least one person to delve into deeper conversations with.
Please keep the teens in your prayers. There might be more heartache here than expected. Keep Mrs. Terri on your prayers tonight at around 8 pm. She is going to share her testimony.

Hey Everybody!
If you are wondering what life is like here in Bequia, these two words basically sum it up: sweat and mosquitoes. Well, not really. There’s also a beautiful beach and wonderful people. But a LOT of sweat. Today we ventured into Port Elizabeth to exchange our money and buy snacks and drinks. I don’t think I’ve ever been more sweaty in my life. Also, Grace and I are going to be teaching VBS today. Last night I single-handedly led a discussion group of about 10 preteen girls. It didn’t go very well, since none of them answered any questions, but I did do it.
It would be great if you all would keep praying for the team to be able to really connect with the kids and the teens especially. And pray for us to stay strong and healthy through all this ridiculous heat and humidity.

It’s pretty hard to believe that the trip is already halfway over. It seems like we’ve lived here for months, but it’s also going really quickly. Anyway, I’ll see all of you on Sunday!

Hey, guys!

So much has happened since my previous blog. The VBSs have been really fun so far. The kids at Port Elizabeth seem really involved in what we’re doing, and they really get excited about the games and crafts, even if the older kids act like they’re too cool for school.

I have discovered that I really enjoy leading worship. It’s a lot of fun to stand up in front of the kids as they shout out “I’ve Got a River of Life,” and get way into the motions. It’s also really cool to lead worship at the beginning of the teen sessions. Our main song is “Give Us Clean Hands,” and you can see on the teens faces how sincere they are about the words.
I haven’t really connected strongly with any specific people yet, but I’m really trying to talk to this 15 year old named Delwain. If you could pray for God to help him be more comfortable and open up, that would be awesome. As others said, prayers for strength, stamina, and enthusiasm are also very valuable.

Hello! Anna, Ian , and Beth here. We are doing very well, and are excited about the coming days of VBS. Let’s be honest, the ocean is amazing. And it doesn’t hurt that we are within 5 minutes of it (walking distance.) The day of traveling was strenuous. Lots of rushing and nothing to eat. The meal provided for us when we got to the house was probably the best meal that has ever touched my lips. The first night was hard for everyone. The heat was so immense. But we woke up the next morning and went swimming which was very relaxing. Saturday was a day for hanging out with the teens and just getting to know them. The people here are so friendly. The scenery is a picture of God’s handiwork. I cannot believe I am actually here. Sunday (so far) has been very fun, and quite the culture shock. I went with a group to Paget Farm Church. Ian preached his sermon and did so well. We went to Andron’s preschool graduation and that brings me here. Typing this blog. Please continue praying for us. I love you all!

Hi, everyone!

The trip so far has been amazing. I have loved pretty much every minute of it, with the exception of the times I was laying in bed trying to forget the heat existed…

As Anna said, I preached my first sermon ever today! I think it went pretty well. The text I used, in case anyone’s curious, was 2 Timothy 2. The main point of the sermon was to encourage the church to remember Christ, and to be united by the gospel. It was pretty well received. One of the cool things was that I was feeling really nervous about the whole thing until I went up on stage. As soon as I got there and put my Bible and notes on the podium, I felt totally fine, and the rest was easy. The Holy Spirit was helping me a lot.

I’m so excited for everything that we will be doing for the rest of the trip. Our relationships with the people are already awesome.

hey everyone! So, I absolutely LOVE Bequia. This morning I went to church at Paget Farms with Anna and Ian. (and a bunch of others.)i love being able to worship with other cultures! It was by far, my favorite part of the trip so far.
The whole island is so beautiful. i just love being here, and having a bunch of opportunities to serve God. We met a few of the teen the other night, and i just cant wait to get to know them better, and form relationships. Thank you all for praying for us, and please keep it up as we begin to work in VBS and with the teens tomorrow. See you all soon!
